WAYVE Summons a New Era of Music With His Latest Track, ‘System Reboot’

February 27, 2021 | Lindsey Blakley

Justifying himself [already] as a force to be reckoned with, Alex Nguyen or WAYVE dropped his second track with The Arcadium Project this past Friday.

They described the track as “taking the listener into an emotional cyberpunk setting that unleashes its full melodic potential in a distorted and heavy drop. WAYVE brings his own unique style to modern dubstep with a distinctive sound design, captivating melodies, crunchy drums, and an interesting switch-up for the second drop.”

The crunchy drums are what sold it for me. Arcadium Project has it on the nose. The distorted heavy drop and crunchy drums smack your eardrums out of nowhere, in the best way. Not to mention the cinematic intro that nearly leaves you blind-sided to the fact that you are about to experience similar to waves crashing on the shore of your mind.

In the best way – if I wasn’t clear enough about that the first time.

Alex let me in on his creative process for the intro, stating, “I was stuck on the intro of this track for a long time, but after sitting on it for a while, the main melody in the drop finally came to fruition. The rest of the track flowed seamlessly” He finished by saying the entire track felt like “finally fitting puzzle pieces together” when it was all said and done.

Alex is a multi-faceted artist that finds joy in various mediums, including YouTube content and streaming content as well as music. Still, his main long-term goals are to release a track under Subsidia Records and play a festival.

His unique sound design and determination to succeed will surely lead him to some major festivals in the future. Until then, we have his four-minute short story of a track to vibe out to, and I, for one, am stoked to continue to watch this kid grow.

Keep up with WAYVE here.
